This week has been incredibly busy as we filled the week with fascinating talks for Careers Week 2025 and of course celebrated World Book Day 2025.

On Thursday the school was awash with fabulous costumes celebrating favourite literary characters. Our Junior Prep enjoyed what has now become their traditional World Book Day Banquet. This was followed by our World Book Day parade, where certificates were given out for the best costumes. Well done to Tabitha who won overall best costume!

Mrs Noyce also awarded prizes for our story writing competition, ‘Reimagine your World’, with Albie in Form 6 achieving first place! Special commendations were awarded to Millie in Form 8, Louis and Amelka in Form 7 and Tessie in Form 2 for most creative entry.

There was also a ‘Decorate a Potato as a Literary Character’ competition. We had some fabulous entries, with the winning spuds being designed by Alfie and William, Juliet and Elsie.

Thank you to all the children (and their parents) for helping us celebrate the wonderful world of books!

Pupils across the school had a treat this week for National Careers Week. Our first visit was from Angus and Mary-Anne from Medical Mavericks. Pupils in Form 4-8 had an hour long workshop where they were able to take part in a variety of practical medical procedures such as taking blood pressure, using an ultrasound scanner and doppler, using keyhole surgery implements to thread a shoelace and record their own ECG and use a syringe to draw blood from ‘Handy Andy!’ Pupils also are taking part in ‘Step into the NHS’, exploring the 350 careers within the health service and researching ones that particularly interest them.

Pupils in Senior Prep continued their careers week with visits from parents to share their career journeys. First off, Chris shared his journey into the world of IT including an AI demo. Next up was Emily who shared how she became Operations Director in residential property management. Jason talked to the children about his career as a pilot, and Bea chatted to the children about her career in both farming and with her catering business. Raeph gave an inspiring talk introducing the children to the opportunities, here and abroad, of being a town planner.

Senior Prep also had a visit from Justyn Edwards, a local author and had an online meeting with Mandy a vet who answered many questions from lots of animal loving and curious children. On Tuesday, Forms 7 and 8 also enjoyed a trip to Bournemouth AFC, as an introduction to the 170 different careers in football.

The children loved hearing about different job roles and how career plans can change over time. A big thank you to all our parents and volunteers this week who were able to provide our students with invaluable lessons from the world of work! The children have each had a ‘Career’s passport’ to complete and hopefully this will give them something to reflect on over the coming years.

Next Friday we will share all we have learnt in our parent Career Assembly on Friday and we hope to see many of you there.

Form 8 held a wonderful assembly this morning celebrating famous women for International Women’s Day – both current and historical. It was lovely to welcome all their parents as this will be their last form assembly before they move onto Senior school!

Well done winners this week were Ava M, Juliet, Romeo, George, Tessie, Clara, Hamo, Harry, Albie and Form 6! Academic Excellence Awards were given to Ava, Elsie, Sofia, Beau, Rory, Callisto, Emilia and Albi.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Best wishes

David
