Mrs Sleightholme reports that Junior Prep children are very happily settled into their new classes and that the staggered starts and finishes are (just about) working as planned. The focus in the first few weeks is getting to know each other and learning new routines. Reading remains our academic priority which is slightly hampered because we cannot send books home at the moment. We’ll find ways round this because the extra support you give to reading at home makes all the difference in the quest to becoming a free reader. Teachers will be pinging ideas to you shortly about how you can support this essential skill at home. Rest assured we are reading every day with your children in class.
