This morning Junior Prep were treated to the Form 4 class assembly. Parents were invited (with additional Covid precautions) and delighted in seeing their children share their experiences on the recent residential at the Brenscombe Outdoor Centre. A special Blog containing more photos will feature next week and parents will be sent a copy of the video!

Speaking of videos, all parents have been sent a video of our school Remembrance Service from Monday. We really missed having the veterans present but were pleased we could educate the children about such an important event. Yesterday the whole school came together to observe a 2-minute silence at 11am. Mr Vanburgh took our Head Boy, Sam and our Head Girl, Polina to the war memorial in Dorchester to represent the school.

We must congratulate our ballerina Kitty S who is absolutely loving her weekend Royal Ballet junior associate lessons. She did so well to be offered one of four places from thousands of applicants. Kitty trains with Miss Hornby at June Hornby’s Weymouth Dance Studio.

‘Maths week’ continues in school and Form 5 had fun illustrating some tricky questions with cartoons.

When your father comes to school! Earlier this week, Form 8 had the privilege of welcoming Mr Savva, an Orthopaedic Surgeon, to their science lesson. As part of their unit on the skeletal system, the children were able to find out what a surgeon’s job entails.

It was a fascinating presentation during which Form 8 were able to see some interesting x-rays and examine some of the bone replacement parts used during surgery. Mr Savva, who’s son is in Form 8, was actually able to use his own x-rays as he currently has his arm in plaster after a cycling accident! There was plenty of time for Q&A’s and I hope some children have been inspired to consider a career as a surgeon.

Thursday night was a busy night at Sunninghill. We had 2 evening meetings, a full Governors meeting and the PTFA AGM. The PTFA contribute so much to the school and I do hope you are able to support the upcoming PTFA Christmas Fayre on 2nd December 7pm until 9pm. Tickets are now on sale now and available from your Class Rep, main Reception or on the door.

Have a lovely weekend.
