What a fabulous start to the day. Form 1 performed their first ever assembly and it was outstanding. The topic was Mother’s Day and we were treated to two songs, role play, a film plus homemade cards. I was most impressed at how well such tiny people could project such big voices, no need for a microphone in Form 1! If there appear to be some very tall children in the photos, with several Form 1 children away, Amelia, Lydia, and Polina from Form 8 kindly stepped in to read their parts at the last minute!!

It was a lovely sunny day for the girls last netball match of the term at Knighton House. Sunninghill had 3 teams and each played 2 matches against different Knighton House teams. All the children playing really enjoyed the games. The girls have really improved this term and Miss Thomasson and Mrs Wilson have enjoyed their journey. If you look closely at the photo you may spot Mrs Wilson in shadow form!

It was also the last matches of the term for the U10 and U11 netball teams at Yarrells. BCS also brought teams and all the girls enjoyed playing in the gorgeous sunshine. Well done to the whole team, who played some of their best netball.

To celebrate Form 7 finishing their topic for this term ‘pulse and rhythm’, pupils took part in a special drumming workshop led by Mr Marchant.

Science week continued this week and on Monday children were delighted to be given a slot to explore the visiting Science Dome which had been setup in the school hall. The Science Dome is a fully digital show provided in a blacked-out all purpose-built mobile dome. It is a fully immersive learning experience and capable of showing 360 degree pictures. Nursery & Reception enjoyed their dinosaur experience and the Forms 1 to 4 session recreated ‘Under the Sea’. Forms 5 & 6 had an exciting space theme to explore, then the Dome morphed again to become ‘Dynamic Earth’ for the Form 7 & 8’s.

At morning break this week, our Head of Science, Mrs Evans and the science scholars have been performing science experiments with the children. These included giant bubbles and popper rockets! The theme for Science Week this year is Growth and a whole school sunflower growing competition was launched. Form 5 have hatched butterflies in the lab and are just hoping they will be ready to release before we break up. Mrs Evans has offered to take them home as a plan B!

New for this term we have introduced Book Sharing events where children invite their parents in to school to show off their great work. Thank you to our parents for showing their support for this, I know they particularly enjoyed being back in the classrooms again!

Tonight, is the grand Sunninghill’s Got Talent event and I am off now to help out at the rehearsals. Ticket sales went well and a full report to follow on Monday.

We have plenty to look forward to next week with the PTFA Easter Egg Hunt on Thursday. We are hoping the weather holds as this is always a popular event with both children and staff – who doesn’t like chocolate!

Our end of term service will take place at St Peter’s Church on Friday and parents are welcome to join us back at school for tea and a hot cross bun!

Have a relaxing and sunny weekend.
