Another year over, and we certainly finished it in style! It was an incredibly busy, but very special week.

Nursery children held their Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, organised by Mrs Pitman, Mrs Beasley and Miss Neave. Each child walked the red carpet to receive their graduation medal and parents were treated to drinks and sweet treats. It was a wonderful event and marked a rite of passage before children move up to the Reception class!

Last Friday night was our final formal music concert – an absolutely wonderful evening from some of our very talented singers and musicians. We are so proud of all our performers – and absolutely love hearing you perform.

Our Summer Fayre was a huge success on Saturday! The Fun Dog Show was a hit as usual and the atmosphere was lovely! My thanks to the PTFA for all their hard work – it is very much appreciated.

On Monday, Reception, Form 1 and Form 2 had a wonderful day in Weymouth for their end of term treat, playing in the sand, having a picnic and enjoying an ice cream! I think the train ride there was one of the best parts of the day!

Monday night was the final presentation from our Lions’ Lair contestants – to the ‘Lions’ themselves! We are delighted to let you know that the teams raised over £900 for their chosen charities (Stand up to Cancer, Ferne Animal Sanctuary and the Farming Community Network).

Our winning team this year was Felix, Lucy, Charlie and Freddy, with Wags and Whiskers – raising over £400 for Ferne Animal Sanctuary through the sales of their dog accessories.

The judges were hugely impressed with the standard this year, and the amount of work that had gone into each project. They were particularly impressed with the teamwork and presentation skills from every child.

Tuesday saw huge excitement in the grounds of Sunninghill as the ice cream van made it’s annual appearance. A huge treat and some very happy children (and staff!)

While the school community was enjoying ice creams, 22 very brave musicians were taking their ABRSM exams. Our children work so hard towards these exams and we have already heard about some of our results with an impressive number of distinctions and merits! Well done to you all!

Wednesday saw our Final Assembly and an opportunity to celebrate all the music and sports colours that were awarded at the end of term as well as the endeavour cups that were awarded.

Speech Day today was a wonderful day from start to finish, with a very personal focus on our fabulous Form 8’s.

We began the day with our Form 8 Leavers’ Service at St Peter’s Church which was a beautiful service with beautiful readings and musical performances. Back at school, the Prize Giving and Speech Day began and I was delighted to award our children for all their successes and progress. As I said in my speech, to those who did not win this year, be proud of all you have achieved this year – it is noticed and appreciated.

Our end of year drinks and canapes on the lawn followed by our Form 8 lunch which has been a lovely end to what has been a fabulous year. We say goodbye to Mrs Salisbury, and we wish her all the very best in her new role at Sherborne Girls.

We also wish all our Form 8’s all the very best in their next adventure – we will miss you all – but so glad that Sunninghill was part of your journey. You have all made us very proud.

Finally, please remember the challenge I set you all for the holidays – to try something new, something out of your comfort zone, and please share with me your progress over the holidays! I will be excited to see what you have been up to!

I wish you all a very happy Summer holiday and a well deserved rest.

Best wishes

David
