The weather held out for us on Saturday, and the Summer Fayre was a fantastic occasion. The businesses (for Lions’ Lair) set up by our Form 8 pupils were all doing a brisk trade with popular products including handmade bracelets, keyrings, slime and scented candles.

Thank you to everyone for coming and supporting this event. Special thanks to our PTFA members for all their hard work, and to our BBQ ‘heroes’ who slaved over the grill tirelessly throughout!

In assembly this morning, we welcomed Mrs Farran from Samurai Kick Boxing to present some belts to excited children after a recent grading.

Our school librarian, Mrs Shead challenged all the children to sign up for the summer reading challenge at their local library. More details can be found here.

Congratulations to Guy H-G who is the first boy to get a Head’s house point award for 250 house points.

Last local historian Brian Bates came in to school to speak to Form 8 about what life was like in Dorchester during World War I. He has written a number of books about the local area. Some of the children have spotted these in Waterstones! The children asked lots of questions and he kindly shared personal anecdotes about his own family’s experiences.

Many thanks to Brian for sharing such wonderful photos and poignant stories. Some were related to the Pope family who originally lived in South Court House, now the home of Sunninghill Prep School.

We have plenty to look forward to this week with sports day tomorrow and Wednesday and the ever popular swim gala on Friday. We also finish the week with a formal music concert.
