The countdown is on – just 4 more days until our whole school production of Aladdin!

The rehearsals sound and look amazing – and that is without all the costumes on and all the set being complete! As I write, there are a team of people getting the hall ready – painting sets, preparing props, decorating and clearing. I want to thank all the staff and parent volunteers who have given up their free time to help with this production – so much goes on behind the scenes and all your help is greatly appreciated.

Our assembly on Friday reflected on the excellent careers week we had last week. The children presented their favourite parts of the week and what they took away from each of our guest speakers. Once again my thanks to Mrs Moss and Mrs Evans and to all our parents who gave up their time to inspire all of our children and give them a lot to think about in regards to possible future careers.

This week, our Academic Excellence awards went to William and Orlando, Violet, Sonny, Rory and Harry. Our Well Done winners this week were Alfie, Samson, Logan, William, Agatha, Sasha and Scarlett, as well as all of Form 1. Our Commitment award went to Gabriel and Vira, Compassion to Elodie and Daisy, Courage to William and Martha, and Creativity to Ava and Guy.

Literacy Gold certificates were handed out to Albie, Rory, Baxter, Seb, Max, Phil, Martha, Louis C, Alice, Natty, Felix and Sasha-Mae. The Tassimo Titan Badge was handed to Sasha and Harry S. with a Trail Blazer Badge awarded to Scarlett.

On Thursday, Form 7 continued their investigations of the history of smuggling as part of their visit to the Dorset History Centre. The pupils looked at different types of contraband and were introduced to a range of primary artefacts which included some letters dating back around 300 years. The second part of the afternoon involved a tour of the centre looking at the various methods for preserving and storing historic documents, including how maintaining the correct temperature and humidity helps to preserve these longer. They discovered that the oldest document held here goes back to the 900s and that there are over 8 miles of storage for all of the documents held here! The afternoon concluded with a reflection on Rudyard Kipling’s ‘A Smugglers Song’ and the pupil’s interpretations of this.

Next week is Creative Arts Week, and of course our much anticipated whole school production of Aladdin! We know you are all going to absolutely love it and we can’t wait to share it with you!

Have a lovely weekend!
