We have only been away for a few weeks but the school feels and looks very different. Our outdoor heated swimming pool is open, and the beautiful pink blossom and warm sunshine helped welcome children back into school on Tuesday. The photo is of Form 2 enjoying their swim lesson this morning!
Staff actually started back on Monday for a training day. We are grateful to Vanessa for coming in to run a Prevent training update for us first thing in the morning.
We started the term with an assembly about Earth Day. I was pleased to be able to award badges to this term’s prefects. Congratulations to our Head Girl this term, Amelia and our Head Boy, Thomas. I am sure that they will carry their duties admirably.
Mrs Nolan-Stone, our Director of Music was delighted with our ABRSM results this year. 10 pupils took music exams last term, all passing with either a merit or distinction. The 5 pupils who took Grade 1 theory were all awarded a Distinction. Congratulations to Thomas E for passing his Grade 5 theory, a particularly challenging exam. Well done to all our pupils who worked so hard to achieve such a wonderful set of results. This term we will be hosting the ABRSM exams at Sunninghill. They will take place at the end of June.
Holiday club was a huge success as always. Our thanks to Miss Sawyer for organising a fabulous range of activities and trips for the children. The booking form for the summer holiday club went out to parents via Ping today. It will be released to the wider community on the website next week. Holiday Club will run for 5 weeks from the 1st August to 2nd September.
Some lovely news to share, congratulations to Mrs Katie Beasley on the safe arrival of her son, Arlo, who arrived on 11th April at 5.43pm weighing in at 8lb 5oz. Both are doing well and we look forward to welcoming Arlo to the Sunninghill community.
There is much to look to look forward to this term including the outdoor education residential weeks, trips, swim galas, sporting events and the Summer Fayre. Save the date, it is on Saturday 25th June!
