It feels good to be able to share with you some of the fantastic things that have been going on since the start of term.

Out of respect for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, ourselves and many of the other IAPS schools, agreed that we should hold off on social media posts until after her funeral.  So this is my first blog and there is so much to share, I hope you enjoy seeing the children and what they have been up to.

Term began with our first Assembly three weeks ago.  From that first moment I have been impressed with the way the children conduct themselves.  They listened and reflected on our task, to always do one kind thing everyday, which I am pleased to say I see them doing all around the school in the way they look after each other.

It is very cute to see our Nursery and Reception children being cared for by their ‘Shepherds’ near the Shepherds Hut area at break times. They make such wonderful role models.

In Assembly we were also able to award ABRSM certificates to many of our fantastic musicians who have done so well and who impressed again this morning in our music Assembly.

From music to cookery.   With Nursery and Reception I had the great pleasure of sampling the delights of stewed apple and custard.  They worked through the whole process from picking the fruit, to cleaning and preparing it, to the best part, eating it!

The start of term also saw the beginning of our first in school 2k Park Run. Ms Wilson had pupils and parents up early running on a Tuesday morning, which has been great fun and a super way to start the day.  This will continue every Tuesday morning on a route around the grounds.

The children have been out and about too and have enjoyed trips to Kingston Maurward and Salisbury Fields.   There will be many more trips to come.

The sporting calendar has also got off to a fine start with football, rugby and hockey and the children have performed very well in their matches so far winning a lot of games.  Most importantly they have been playing with great spirit and supporting each other.

Many of you will have heard that Form 4 are learning the trumpet! This is a fabulous opportunity for our children and, as we were reminded in our music assembly this morning, practice makes perfect and on day 1 they were practicing in the car park after school. Form 3 will get their chance after half term…

I was also delighted to be able to present Lucy and Alex with their Head Girl and Head Boy badges along with prefect badges for Form 8.  They are all going to do a great job and show leadership and support for the younger pupils in school.  Congratulations on your new positions.

A huge thank you to our wonderful PTFA for the new slide in the low ropes area. It is a massive hit as you have no doubt seen.  We captured a great shot of the children on the slide at break time wearing their Jeans for Genes day denim!  Thank you for all your donations for such a worthy cause.  We raised almost £200.00.

Finally thank you all for your warm welcome to the school it is a real pleasure to be here and I look forward to getting to know your children and yourselves in the coming weeks and months.

Have a lovely weekend.
