I am sure by now you will have all heard the exciting news that Sunninghill Prep is becoming part of the Inspired Learning Group (ILG).

ILG was chosen as the perfect partner for us because our values match up with theirs, and because their intentions are very much about supporting us to continue to be the school we all know and love. They will be focused on teacher development, office and admin support along with investment in the school. Amit Metha, the CEO of ILG has said:

‘We are delighted to welcome Sunninghill Prep School into the Inspired Learning Group family and very much look forward to supporting the school in providing a stimulating and highly nurturing education that enables every pupil to thrive in an ever-changing global environment. Through being part of the ILG family, Sunninghill Prep School will benefit from the sharing of best practice and the latest teaching techniques to help deliver the best possible teaching and learning for its pupils. Sunninghill Prep School is a wonderful addition to our family of schools, and we look forward to working closely with David Newberry and his dedicated team as the school enters an incredibly exciting new chapter.’

ILG will be sharing a survey with you next week to ask for your thoughts on how they can best support the school. Your feedback will be very important and help us shape the future of Sunninghill. We also look forward to welcoming you all to Sunninghill to the two meetings with ILG on the 3rd and the 4th October.

ILG will very much leave myself and the SLT to run the school so we will continue with the same values and ethos that we currently enjoy, whilst maintaining the same academic standards and providing the same opportunities for enrichment and extra-curricular activities. Their role is to enhance what we have here at Sunninghill.

With that very clear message of business as usual, it has been a lovely busy week at Sunninghill! Form 5 had a great trip out to the Keep, the military museum, the seniors had some great matches against Castle Court and Form 7, along with the Form 8 science prefects Louis and Scarlett, had a lovely day out at Winchester Science Centre. Form 7 got to investigate non-Newtonian fluids and make slime in the process! They also had a fantastic trip in the planetarium and enjoyed getting hands on with all the exhibits in the museum itself.

Form 4 have also had a fabulous residential in Brenscombe this week. It has been quite an adventure with night walks, climbing, raft building, Bush Craft and high ropes. They have been beautifully behaved and Mrs Moss, Mrs Baker and Mr Stazicker have really been impressed with them all! It is lovely to have them all back safe at Sunninghill and we can’t wait to hear all about it!

This week we also enjoyed a cake sale for languages week. Congratulations to Izzy, Amelia and Manu for their fabulous cakes. They each won a prize from Mme Smith! Also in our Celebration Assembly, we congratulated Sandro, Elizabeth, George and Hamo for their good work certificates, and Orlando, Mina, George, William, Ted, Nora, Abel, Vira and Katy for winning the Academic Excellence Cups for this week. As usual, our Academic Excellence Cup winners enjoyed a special breaktime with treats, and a chance for them to show Mr Newberry their excellent work.

We are very excited that rehearsals are underway for our SPS TV! Each Monday morning, our School Heads for this academic year, Tom, Kitty, Charlie, Katy, Will and Iris will be reporting on all the sports fixtures, trips and events happening in school for the week – and will even be interviewing staff and children! This will eventually be broadcast live in all form rooms during tutor time first thing in the morning. I watched the rehearsal on Monday and it is going to be fantastic!

Please do come to see me if you have any concerns at all and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in our meetings on Monday and Tuesday with ILG. I also hope to see many of you at our Harvest Festival Assembly on Friday 6th October at 11am in the school hall.

Finally I would like to wish you all a very relaxing weekend.

Best wishes

David
