What a fabulous week of performance we have had at Sunninghill this week!

On Thursday and Friday, Fledglings, Bobbins and Junior Prep treated us to the most wonderful production of ‘Simply the Nativity’. The children were incredible. They sang, danced, played the ukulele and bells, remembered all of their lines, as heard the traditional Christmas story, told through the eyes of some weary teachers putting on a school production! The acting was superb and I know Mrs Sleightholme, Mrs Nolan Stone, and all the nursery and Junior Prep teachers who helped put on this years Nativity were incredibly proud.

The children were fabulous and there was not a dry eye in the house! My thanks must go to all the Junior Prep staff who worked so hard to put this together and of course children who performed so beautifully.

As if the day could not get any more exciting, after their nativity performance, Nursery and Junior Prep were visited by Father Christmas! We are delighted to hear from Father Christmas that ALL our children are on his good list this year!

Even science got Christmassy this week, as our Junior Prep Crest Award Science Club children observed the reaction between bicarbonate of soda and vinegar (with added food colouring) whilst making beautiful Christmas pictures! It was lovely to see some of our Form 8’s helping out our Junior Prep scientists!

We were delighted to receive a bee sculpture this week, to thank Form 4 for creating their lovely bee art for the recent Art in Poundbury exhibition. The sculpture was made by artist David Metcalfe. The Form 4 art is now back from the exhibition and is being displayed in their form room along with our new bee.

On Wednesday, we held our Senior Prep informal concert. We were treated to wonderful performances from some of our older children, some of whom were performing for the first time in front of an audience.

Last night we also held our Senior Prep Formal Concert. The formal concerts are held in our drawing room and provide an opportunity for the children to dress up and perform in a slightly more formal setting, but still in front of an intimate supportive audience. It was such a lovely evening and a fantastic ending to an incredible week of performances.

As I mentioned to the parents last night, I have been Head here for just over 2 years, and the progression that I can see with these same children over that period is incredible and testament to their hard work and commitment and the dedication of our incredible music department. Thank you.

Next week will be another fun filled week of Christmas festivities. We have our Christingle Assembly on Monday, a Christmas trip to the pantomime on Wednesday for Bobbins to Form 2. Thursday is our Christmas day at Sunninghill – children will come to school in Christmas jumpers, enjoy carols under the stairs at 11am, Christmas lunch, and then Christmas parties and ice skating. We have our carol service at 2.30pm on Friday 13th December and let’s not forget the class Christmas door competition!

It’s going to be a lot of fun!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
