I remember when I was at primary school, my favourite lessons always involved getting outside in nature.
Friday afternoon was a particular highlight because this involved a local nature walk. With little regard for health and safety back then, we were encouraged to explore rivers and hedgerows with jam jars and bring back flowers, leaves and small insects (sometimes bigger animals if they weren’t quick enough!) to identify back in the classroom.
Mrs King’s Form 4 class have been busy in school this week creating nature books using materials they have foraged in our school gardens. Liz is our talented gardener but she also creates horticultural experiences for the children. The class also enjoyed making observational drawings during Forest School. With gorgeous primroses and drifts of snowdrops around school they had plenty of inspiration!
