This morning the whole school was smiling! Why? Well, Form 1 led the most brilliant assembly on spreading happiness, and teaching us how happiness is contagious! They sang us a happy song, told us jokes, and shared their paintings of special people that make them happy. It really was a joyful assembly, confidently presented, and filled with smiles and joy. Thank you Form 1!

This morning Sasha-Mae and Harvey received an Academic Excellence award. Ava, Tessie, Elise, Beau, Rosie and all of Form 1 all received a Well done certificate for their hard work. Ava S, and Albi received the Commitment award, Sonny H and Baxter the Compassion award, Daisy and Harry P the Courage award and Jonah and Max the Creativity award.

I was also delighted to award the Headmasters award to Orlando, Juliet, Sonny and Grace. It is very rare to get one of these badges, and is for those pupils who achieve 250 housepoints through the year. Well done all of you!

We had an absolutely incredible performance from all the children yesterday at our Junior Informal Concert! We are so unbelievably proud of every one of them. The depth of talent on display was truly amazing, with so many wonderful first performances. Well done everyone! You were all brilliant!

Form 7 have had a wonderful trip to the Brecon Beacons. They have been camping, hiking, abseiling and canyoning, and even paid a visit to Cardiff International for some white water rafting at the end of their trip! My thanks, as ever, to the staff who take the children on our residentials, who look after them so brilliantly and give them these amazing experiences. Thank you Mrs Noyce and particularly to Mr Stazicker who organises all our residentials, and has done for many years. This trip is his very last residential for Sunninghill and we are so grateful to him for all the amazing experiences our children have had over the years. These residentials play such an important role in the development of our children – helping them with skills such as organisation and independence, as well as giving them the opportunities to embrace our school’s core values of Compassion, Creativity, Courage and Commitment.

Our thanks also to Rock and Rapid Adventures who run the activities for the children. We always have such lovely feedback from the instructors about how well behaved our children are – and that makes me a very proud Head!

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Scarlett in Form 8 has been crowned the NATIONAL WINNER of the Rotary Young Writer Competition for her age group! The theme was ‘Wonderful Water’, and her creativity, passion, and powerful voice stood out among entries from across the country — a truly remarkable achievement! We are so proud of you, Scarlett — your words have made a national impact, and we can’t wait to see where your talent takes you next!

On the subject of wonderful water, last night I was lucky enough to take our sailing club down to Portland Harbour for their weekly session. What absolutely glorious weather we had and I am continually delighted for all our children who have this incredible facility on their doorstep and the opportunities to sail and windsurf each week.

On Monday, our Form 3’s ventured down to Sea Life Centre in Weymouth. They undertook a Sea Defenders workshop where they looked at issues that are harming our oceans, endangering our sealife and damaging our coast lines. The rest of the day included a tour of the park, with plenty of questions about the animals’ habitats and diets, and viewing the feeding sessions of seals, penguins and otters. The children had a magnificent day and really enjoyed the workshops!

This weekend I am looking forward to our Summer Fayre, and I hope to see you all there!

Next week is one of the busiest of the year! With 3 sports days, swimming gala, music concert, Sunninghill’s Got Talent, Move up Day and Form 7’s Assemby – to name just a few! I can’t wait….

Have a lovely weekend

David
