The start of a new year is often a time when we set new goals or expectations for ourselves. In Senior Prep assembly this morning, we looked at how important it is to make sure these targets are achievable. THE SMART acronym was a useful tool and we had a go at choosing targets that were Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely.

Some pupils missed assembly to attend the first Student Council Meeting. Mrs Johnstone says she was impressed at how confident and passionate the children were about having the opportunity to make changes around their school. The photograph shows the elected council members seated in the drawing room debating their first topic. They are certainly learning fast. I was pleased to see that they had the foresight to pre-order snacks and drinks from the kitchen! I look forward to reading the minutes.

Nursery and Reception have been learning about the 5 senses. They have planned a walk this Friday and will be looking out for the signs and sounds of winter. Let’s hope it stays dry for them although I know quite a few enjoy a chance to jump in puddles!
