This week the great excitement has been our trip to Aladdin which took place on Thursday – at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton. Mrs Nolan-Stone organised for all children, from Form 2 – Form 8, to watch this dazzling production to inspire our children ahead of our own whole school production of Aladdin. It really was a brilliant production and the children had a fabulous day. If only we had had our own magic carpet to get us home quicker after the show!

As part of Friday’s assembly today, we were treated to a visit from ‘Rock Steady’, who performed to all the children and taught them about performing in a band and the importance of each instrument of that band. The children in KS1 and KS2 then took part in a series of workshops which they all thoroughly enjoyed. I’m sure there will be lots of requests this weekend for your budding rock stars to want to learn the drums, base or electric guitar!

This week has been a very busy week for Science. Form 7 passed their Bunsen burner test – they had to label and understand the safety rules of a Bunsen as well as know the different types of flames. All children had to light a Bunsen and change the flames to get their certificate. Our 4Cs science club had the children designing rafts, Form 5 looking for different examples of seed dispersal in the school grounds and Form 8 testing foods for sugar and starch.

We’ve had another super week in sport. Mr Willemse says that it started with a lovely fixture with the U8 and U9’s playing St Mary’s, Swanage, We played 4 matches alongside each other and the children played so well in fabulous conditions. Wednesday’s highlights were the hockey and football festivals at Bryanston School. Lots of amazing match opportunities to showcase their skills, on fantastic facilities. Another highlight was the U10 and U11 boys who battled hard and, due to their perseverance and positive attitudes, they managed to turn the game around to a full time victory.

Nursery have been very busy this week exploring the school grounds, enjoying their music lessons with Mrs Nolan-Stone, and drawing self portrait’s, inspired by the book ‘The Family Book’ by Todd Parr.

Next week Form 4 will be going off to Brenscombe for their residential – we know they are so excited about their trip!

Have a lovely weekend!
