This week has been incredibly busy as we filled the week with fascinating talks for Careers Week 2026 and of course celebrated World Book Day 2026.

On Thursday, the school and nursery were awash with fabulous costumes celebrating everyone’s favourite literary characters. The morning began with a parade down the main staircase so that everyone could admire each other’s outfits, and prizes were awarded to the best dressed in each form. Once again, some of the children entered the ever-popular ‘Decorate a Potato as a Literary Character’ competition. We had some wonderfully imaginative and creative entries, and congratulations to Sofia and Juliet for their winning spuds! Our Junior Prep enjoyed what has now become their traditional World Book Day Banquet, this year with the theme of The Tiger Who Came to Tea – and we even had a special visit from the Tiger! After break, our Senior Prep children joined the juniors for a range of creative activities centred around our theme of The Tiger Who Came to Tea. These included designing alternative book covers imagining a different animal coming to tea, acting out the story, and creating elements from the book using junk modelling and drawings. Thank you to all the children – and their parents – for making such a huge effort today and helping us celebrate the wonderful world of books!

National Careers Week was a vibrant and inspiring experience for pupils in Forms 3–8. The week began with a launch assembly, where we shared our aims of encouraging pupils to explore different jobs, discover their strengths and interests, develop new skills and believe in their potential. Throughout the week, pupils benefited from an exciting range of visiting speakers, including a barrister, a graphic designer and a BBC Sports Commentator, who generously shared their career journeys, challenges and advice. Their insightful and engaging talks helped pupils to see the many different pathways available and the dedication behind every profession. In lessons, departments highlighted subject-related careers, helping pupils to make meaningful links between their learning and the wider world of work. During tutor time, Forms 3–6 focused on “Proud to Be…” activities, reflecting on their personal strengths and aspirations, while Forms 7–8 explored apprenticeships and the diverse routes they offer into employment. Pupils also completed their Careers Week passports, embracing each activity with enthusiasm, and Forms 5–8 took part in a virtual careers fair to broaden their horizons even further. We are extremely grateful to all our wonderful speakers for giving their time so generously and for inspiring our pupils with their honesty, insight and encouragement.

This morning we had a lot to celebrate in our assembly, with Ewan, Penelope, Star, Gianni, Shayan and Lottie receiving academic excellence awards. Reception received a whole class Well Done certificate for their magnificent manners, and William, Penelope, Ivy, Gianni, Ava, Sonny, Charlie, Rory, Jia Wei and Felix also receiving a Well Done certificate.

Star and Sonny received the Commitment award, Phoebe and Sasha the Compassion award, Romeo and Charlie the Courage award and Logan and Hamo the Creativity award. Well done to Oliver, Shayan, Phin and Sasha for receiving their level 1 powerboating award and for all our young writers in Senior Prep who will have their entries published.

Well done to Beau and Penelope who shared their awards from their rugby and swimming outside of school.

We were absolutely delighted to take seven of our talented musicians from Forms 5–8 to Bryanston for their Prep Schools Orchestral Day on 3rd March. Throughout the day our pupils represented our school superbly. We are incredibly proud of their musicianship, which was evident in every rehearsal and performance, as well as their positive attitude, focus and magnificent manners. They embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm and maturity, working collaboratively with others and making the most of a truly inspiring musical experience.

This evening, 21 of our pupils will be heading to Bath to watch Bath take on Birmingham Panthers. This annual trip is always great fun, and the children love seeing the skill, speed and teamwork of these incredible netball players up close. It is a wonderful opportunity for them to be inspired by the very best of the game and to enjoy a fantastic evening of sport together.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
