A group of our Form 8 pupils calling themselves ‘Team Levitate’ are off to the Fleet Air Arm Museum tomorrow to take part in the final of the ‘Flying Start’ STEM challenge. Theo, Sam, Vishnu, Charlie and Thomas came 3rd in the regional event and they are looking forward to taking part in the new challenges. The day will culminate in a fly off to find the best glider. We wish them all the best!
A very excited Form 5 and 6 have passed my office early afternoon on their way to the hall for a special Science workshop. Our Head of Science, Mrs Evan’s, has organised a visit from the ‘Space Detectives’.
The workshop started with some information on how the Solar System formed and pupils worked together to create a model of this using water, pepper and washing up liquid. They then went outside to replicate the size of the different parts of the solar system. All pupils were assigned a role as either the Sun, a planet, the asteroid belt or a comet!
On returning to the hall, they made a model showing the distance between the different components of the solar system. In order to make scale models, they used some fantastic maths skills too!
Mrs Evans tells me that the pupils had a great afternoon and asked Jo, from ‘Space Detectives’, lots of good questions!
Last, Tuesday, a selection of Sunninghill pupils travelled to Bryanston School’s Music Department for a Prep School Orchestral Day. 75 Prep school pupils from 8 Prep schools enjoyed instrument-based workshops, coming together to play as an orchestra. Here are some photos from the day:
A fabulous recent development. Following on from a recent string day, Bryanston School have kindly invited Astral, Katy and Kitty back to school to attend a masterclass and have their pieces recorded in their recording studio.
