Yesterday was a very exciting day at Sunninghill as we had ‘The Big Reveal’ where we announced next year’s whole-school production! Pupils arrived in style on our red carpet and were handed golden scratch-card tickets to discover the exciting news for themselves. As the tickets were revealed, so too was our 2026 production: School of Rock! There was plenty of excitement as pupils from Forms 3–8 settled down to watch the film and start imagining the year ahead. We can’t wait to bring this fantastic show to life – it’s going to be an incredible production!

The school has been a little quieter this week as our Form 8 pupils have been away on their residential in Spain. Tomorrow morning, our intrepid explorers return after what I hear has been an absolutely fantastic trip!

Over the course of the week, they have challenged themselves with rock climbing, cycled an impressive 30km, and even tackled a 90m via ferrata – definitely not an activity for the faint-hearted! They rounded off their adventures with a day at Aqualandia, a huge water park packed with thrills and excitement. Alongside the action-packed activities, the children have also enjoyed exploring the local town, relaxing by the pool at the villa, and spending valuable time together as friends. It sounds like the perfect balance of adventure, independence and fun.

My sincere thanks, as always, go to the wonderful staff who accompanied the trip – Mrs Noyce and Ms Thomasson – as well as the team at Rock and Rapids Adventures, who never fail to provide our children with unforgettable experiences and opportunities to create lasting memories.

This morning we had a very special assembly, as Form 4 held their Graduation Assembly. We were treated to a wonderful slideshow showcasing some lovely photos of them all, and they shared their favourite memory of Sunninghill so far. Each child was presented with a framed animal picture made up of all the lovely words that their friends would use to describe them. Thank you to Mrs Gough, Miss Wake-Walker and Miss Brown for helping put together such a lovely assembly and congratulations to our Fabulous Year 4’s who graduate to Senior Prep next year. We know whatever you do next you will do so with Courage, Commitment, Compassion and Creativity.

Our Academic Excellence winners this week were Connie, Penelope D, Freddie, Tessie, Ruby, Hamo and Max.  Well Done certificates were awarded to Ewan, Elodie, Maddie, Form 3, Grace, Lilia and Agatha. Jia Wei and Florence T won the Commitment award, Grace and Maddie the Compassion award, Nora and Logan the Courage award, and Connor and Florence F the Creativity award. We celebrated success in UK Maths Challenge, and ABRSM examinations – well done to Finlay, Ted, Connor and Anna.

Form 4 have been busy this week as they have also really enjoyed learning about the indigenous people of the Central American rainforests. They researched how their homes are being destroyed by deforestation and how there have been many protests in the area to try and stop the logging and clearing. The children were then inspired to make their own protest boards and protest around the school.

There has been much excitement this week as it appeared that Mrs Duck, hatched 8 beautiful babies in our school grounds this week. After a little persuasion, we convinced her that it was too soon for her babies to join Little Robins, so we moved her family from the Nursery, to Liz’s garden area, where there is more shelter and a lovely little pond. We look forward to seeing the ducklings grow before they graduate and fly off to pastures new!

It has been really lovely to see Reception class enjoying learning about the flowers in our gardens and drawing them with Liz. Some wonderful creativity and love of nature being developed in our early years.

This weekend, three of our amazing Sunninghill parents – the dads of Olivia, Samson, Sandro and Katie – will be taking on an incredible challenge as they set off to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats. They will be cycling 800 miles in days for Archie’s Warriors (https://www.archieswarriors.com/) a wonderful charity that helps create special memories and experiences for children facing long-term hospital treatment. It would be wonderful if our school community could support them with whatever they are able to do. We wish them all the very best of luck next week and can’t wait to see all their updates along the way.

Next week we are looking forward to International Week, with an amazing international menu courtesy of Kerry and the team, our Summer Concert which is on Thursday night, and of course the Summer Fayre on Saturday 27th June – one of the highlights of the year!

Enjoy this sunny weekend!
