Exam week has now drawn to a close, and what a glorious bank holiday week we are about to have to celebrate! I have been absolutely delighted by the way our Senior Prep children have approached their exams – with maturity, diligence and positivity throughout. I now look forward to seeing the results of all their hard work.
This morning, Form 7 delivered their form assembly on the theme of creativity and wellbeing. They spoke thoughtfully about the importance of music, dance, art and creative writing in supporting mental health and promoting relaxation, and challenged the school community to spend some time away from devices this weekend in favour of something creative instead.
The assembly concluded with a fabulous performance from the Form 7 rock band, who gave a brilliant rendition of Livin’ on a Prayer – a fantastic way to end the first half of the Summer Term, which has absolutely flown by.
Our well done winners this week were all of Reception class for their excellent baking skills this week, to William C, Freddie, Tessie, Ivy, Remi and Elsie. Academic Excellence Awards went to Ava M, Sandro, Eben, Ruby, Jia Wei and Anna. William N, Harry and Anna receive the courage award, Romeo and Charlie the Commitment Award, Penelope G-F and Sonny the Compassion award, and Eben, Mila, Oscar and Finlay the Creativity Award.
Well done to you all for an excellent week, and an excellent half term.
On Tuesday morning, our Form 5 and 6 pupils had a fantastic time at the Lighthouse Poole taking part in the BSO Schools’ Concert: Sing Out with the wonderful Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. The children loved exploring the different families of the orchestra, listening to opera and jazz singing, and even playing the ukulele alongside the musicians! With singing, body percussion and Makaton all included, it was a fun, energetic and inspiring morning that brought music to life for everyone involved. It was also really lovely to spot our very own Mrs Hawes who plays the violin in the BSO!
Sherborne was alive with creativity and energy during our fantastic Dive into Drama day! Our pupils spent the day working collaboratively in groups and throwing themselves into a range of exciting workshops led by specialist practitioners. Activities included musical theatre, stage combat, Bunraku puppetry and improvisation — giving everyone the chance to develop new skills, build confidence and unleash their imaginations.
The enthusiasm and engagement from all of the children throughout the day was wonderful to see. They approached every challenge with positivity, teamwork and a real sense of fun. The day culminated in a brilliant sharing performance, where pupils showcased everything they had explored and created together.
A huge well done to all involved for representing the school so brilliantly and embracing every opportunity with such energy and enthusiasm. Don’t forget to scan the QR codes to watch highlights from the day and see some of the fantastic drama work in action!
Next half term is an incredibly busy 6 weeks with Sports Days, Summer Music Concert, Swimming Gala, Summer Fayre and of course our Speech Day. It is such an exciting half term and I am very much looking forward to sharing all the events with you all.
I hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing half term.
Best wishes
David
