It has been wonderful to welcome the children back after the most glorious half term week. The children have been finishing off their examinations this week, and we are delighted to see the results coming through and the level of progress the children have made since last year. Their hard work has really paid off and we look forward to sharing these results with you.

This morning, I was delighted to share in Form 1 and 2’s class assembly for Environmental Day. They shared some amazing suggestions for making our planet a better placeĀ  – how to look after animals, reduce waste and improve recycling. They delighted the rest of the school with their beautiful artwork about the magic of nature and their fabulous songs. Well done Forms 1 and 2 – it was a wonderful assembly and a fantastic end to the week.

Well done to our Academic winners, William, Oliver, Baxter and Alice, and to all our Well Done winners. This week, our Commitment award was given to William and Grace, Compassion to Charlie and Beatrice, courage to Eben and Hamo, and Creativity to Harry and Ivy. Another great week at Sunninghill!

Our Pre-School children have thrived since moving into their new classroom at the start of last term. It has been wonderful to see their confidence, independence and enthusiasm for learning grow as they prepare for their transition to Reception in September.

Our carefully designed environment encourages children to make choices, access resources independently and take ownership of their learning. Through daily routines and child-led activities, they have developed valuable problem-solving, teamwork and self-management skills.

A particular favourite has been the Playdough Crate, where children independently create their own playdough, developing fine motor skills, perseverance and a real sense of achievement.

The children have made the most of our beautiful school grounds, enjoying outdoor learning, monthly Forest School sessions and adventures on the low ropes course. These experiences have helped build resilience, confidence and a willingness to embrace new challenges.

Being located next to the Reception classroom has also provided a seamless introduction to school life, helping children become familiar with the environment, staff and routines they will experience next year.

Across their specialist lessons, the children have made fantastic progress. From developing balance and coordination in gymnastics, to performing with confidence in music, learning about sustainability through gardening, and enjoying French lessons alongside Reception, they have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm.

As Sports Day approaches, excitement is building, and it has been heartwarming to see older pupils cheering on our youngest learners during practice sessions. These moments help strengthen their confidence and sense of belonging within our school community.

We are incredibly proud of everything our Pre-School children have achieved this year and look forward to watching them continue to flourish as they begin their Reception journey in September.

Form 7 were studying cells before half and as part of their homework had to make a 3D model, out of any material they chose. There creations were made of lego, clay, cakes and cushions! Great work Form 7!

This weekend, Seb will be representing Sunninghill in the IAPS national swimming finals at the Olympic Pool at the London Aquatics Centre. This is an amazing achievement and an incredible experience for him and we wish him the very best of luck.

Next week our intrepid Year 7’s will be taking Mr Cracknell and Mrs Telfer on their residential to the Brecon Beacons. They have an absolutely jam packed week full of fun and activity and we know they are going to have a wonderful time!

Have a wonderful weekend.

David
