We welcomed Form 8 back into school this morning after their successful residential trip in Spain but waved Form 7 off. They are our final year group to go on residential this academic year. I believe white water rafting in Cardiff was the first activity on the menu and look forward to seeing the photos.
Assembly this morning was a little messy due a bubble blowing competition but Mr Stazicker proved very handy with the mop! It is always great to be able to celebrate achievements outside school in assembly. Rosie N-S in Form 1 has achieved a Distinction in her Imperial Classical Ballet Exam, and Lyla B in Form 2 had been awarded two medals in a gymnastics competition, gold and a silver. Congratulations to both girls.
At the weekend, Sunninghill pupils were back at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy competing in the RYA South and South West Regional champions. Mr Hemingway reported that conditions were challenging, north winds backing Portland harbour with 30 knots of wind, consistently over 20 knots on day 1.
Congratulations to everyone who took part. We are very proud of our pupils who achieved this great set of results which come straight after our recent U11 and U13 IAPS successes.
- Freddy H came first in the Male Regatta Fleet Optimist class, South West Regionals.
- Freddy P stepped up to Senior Main Fleet Optimist class and held his own in a senior class finishing mid fleet.
- Leo H, despite sea sickness on both days, finished mid fleet in the Optimist Regatta Fleet class and secured his best ever regatta result finishing 10th!
It was also great to hear that two of our former pupils are still maintaining their love of sailing nurtured by Sunninghill and the Sailing Centre. Erin P came first in the Females ILCA (laser) class South West Region. Archie M-P came first in the Senior Main fleet Optimist class South West Regionals.
This week, we are looking forward our Senior Prep informal music concert on Thursday and the Summer Fayre on Saturday.
